While our clients loved the Chatham neighborhood where their summer cottage was located, its size no longer suited their growing family’s needs. Working within the footprint of the existing home, we took it down to the studs and added a second story, with two bedrooms, a full bath and a loft area, and completely remodeled the first floor. The rebuilt home features a steeply pitched roof with a series of doghouse dormers which makes it appear low to the ground, appropriate to the neighborhood. To one side of the home we added a spacious great room with a cathedral ceiling, perfect for large gatherings. It opens off of the kitchen and includes a seating area and dining area. French doors, topped with transom windows, flood the space with natural light.
